How-To: Invite Spectators To Your Stream

This article will walk you through sharing your stream for other people to watch

Overview

There are two ways to watch a stream:

  1. Through a special guest URL (no MEsuite account needed)
    1. People outside your company, like a client or executive. 
  2. If you’re attached to the project and have a MEsuite account
    1. Team members, or supervisors

With a Guest URL

If you’d like to send the stream link to a guest to spectate instead of giving them access to MEsuite, you can follow these directions.

  1. Get your DirectME Stream URL

    1. Click on the DirectME tab to see your list of streams
    2. Click on the “Manage” button on your test stream
    3. Click on “Copy Link” to copy the link to your clipboard

  2. Then, sent this link to anyone you’d like to invite as a guest.

  3. Once someone clicks on the link, they’ll be taken to the DirectME viewing page where you’ll be setting up your viewer information and settings 1.

  4. Click on the purple “Join” button

Guests will be able to name themselves and select their role as they log in.

Be sure to let them know to NOT select Broadcaster or they'll block the stream.

 

 

With Your MEsuite Account

  1. Click on the DirectME tab to see your list of streams

    1. Click on the Manage button on your test stream

    2. Then select “Open”

    1. Name yourself
    2. Select “Spectator”
    3. You can turn off your camera and microphone settings if you’d like

      From this page, you’ll be setting up your viewer information and settings

  2. Click on the purple “Join” button

Using DVR to Live Log

On the top right side of the screen, you’ll see the stream.
  1. Once the stream starts, it should automatically load on your screen.
  2. This might take a few seconds depending on your signal strength and iPhone model.

🪧 Please note: there will always be some delay and is normal even with a great connection.

To use Logging, click on DVR mode and you’ll be able to live log while you watch the stream.

  1. You can also move the scrubber to go back in case you missed something since you’re in DVR mode.
  2. Any markers and notes added to the log will be saved to that spot when reviewing your clip later


Post Stream Viewing, and Logging

Once the stream has ended, you’ll be taken back to the main DirectME window.

  1. The system will auto generate a clip and will appear below the stream button.
  2. It generally takes about double the steaming time to generate, so a half-hour stream will take around an hour to generate.

Logging

If you’d like to log the saved clip, once the system as generated the clip:

  1. Click on the clip to open it
  2. If this is the first time entering a stream, depending on the method of streaming, it will either auto detect the time code or require you to enter it in. If it’s mobile, please enter 00:00:00:00 and select 30 frames from the drop-down menu.
  3. Then you’ll be able to add logs and review your notes taken during the live session.
  4. Anything logged in the live view will leave a marker on the clip at that time. You can also edit or delete your marked sports

Transcripts

You should be able to see your transcripts populate in the tab next to your log, if you have any questions, please let your customer success manager know.

Conclusion

That’s it! Once you’ve reviewed your clips you’ll be able to match that to your saved video on your device for editing
