How-To: Edit Release Template ๐Ÿ“ƒ

If you need to change a release template, either needing to add or remove a mandatory field or to add or remove legal text, this article will cover how to edit a release template in your project.

If you find yourself needing to make edits to your document after creating it, you still have the ability to do so. However, the process varies depending on whether the contract template has already been signed. If a release has been signed, you are legally unable to modify the template. But if the document is unsigned, you can proceed with editing it.

Note: Archiving a release does not delete or destroy your previous releases, it just hides the template so it doesnโ€™t get used again.

Editing an UNSIGNED release

1) If you have an unsigned release, you can edit the document simply by finding the release youโ€™re looking for, and clicking Manage > Edit to edit the contract template.

3) Next, click Continue to Contract Builder to edit the content of your template. In the contract builder, you can change your legal language, add or remove singer blocks, or change which singer fields are mandatory or not.

4) Once you are done making changes, click on the Next button on the bottom left to preview your document. If all looks correct, you can click Next to choose your customized settings for signers.

5) When youโ€™re done, click Update to finalize your edits.

Editing a SIGNED release

1) If you have a signed release, youโ€™ll need to duplicate the release.

2) The duplicated template will automatically be created and will have โ€œCopy ofโ€ฆ.โ€ affixed to the name of the duplicated document.

3) You can then click on Manage > Edit to change this document by following the instructions above. We recommend renaming the document so you donโ€™t get confused as to which release you are deploying.

Conclusion

Thatโ€™s it! Once your release has been edited or duplicated successfully, you will now be able to deploy this new release using ReleaseME.
